Although she dreamed herself to be the kind of person who could whip up fabulous desserts with ease, in fact she could not. Her cakes fell or were brick-like. Her pies were overworked and underdone. Her pastries were doughy. This all changed when one day she found a magical old book entitled "Anyone Can Bake". She took this challenge to heart. Carefully she measured with precision all of the ingredients and gave great attention to the mixing and the baking and the cooling. But she took the most care in the frosting. And when she was done, she proudly carried her creation to the dining room, fully prepared for the wave of appreciation to follow.
